A Story-Flavored Project: Personalized Cakes for a Hotel with Heart
In Austria’s magical Wachau Valley, where terraced vineyards lean toward the Danube and time feels suspended in golden light, stands Gasthof Prankl—a historic inn that has welcomed travelers for centuries. Nestled in Spitz an der Donau, this family-run hotel blends heritage and hospitality in a way that few places can.
The story of Gasthof Prankl dates back to 1680, when it served as a refuge for timber rafters navigating the Danube. Known then as the Alte Schiffmeisterhaus, the building has roots possibly stretching to the 14th century. In 1844, the Prankl family took over, and eight generations later, they continue to preserve its soul—with help from sculpted figures like Mercury, the Roman god of commerce, watching silently from the façade.
Today, under the care of Martin and Birgit Prankl, with support from their children Christina and Stefan, the inn remains a living story—renovated with care, yet faithful to its past. Suites now overlook the river and the nearby Hinterhaus castle ruins, offering a view as timeless as the hospitality within.
And it was here that a unique idea was born:
personalized cakes featuring the hotel’s emblem, a refined and meaningful gesture to welcome guests from around the world. But to make that dream a reality, they needed more than just skillful pastry work—they needed a custom silicone mold designed with precision, passion, and purpose.

From our workshop in Spain, we received the commission with honor. It wasn’t just another job—it was a culinary project with soul, one that would travel across Europe to leave a mark on a place steeped in history.
We began by transforming the Prankl family logo into a detailed 3D-printed model. Every line, symbol, and curve was carefully etched and prepared, until it was ready to be cast into high-quality food-grade silicone. The result: a mold both flexible and durable, capable of capturing the essence of the hotel in edible form.
Soon after, the first images arrived from Austria—pastry chefs carefully using the molds, and cakes emerging from the kitchen carrying the logo with elegance. A simple dessert became a personal message. A bite-sized tribute to a place where authenticity matters.
